This article presents a theoretical analysis of the action of carbon radio resistors as pressure transducers and shows how, from practical measurements, gauge factors can be predicted without the necessity to calibrate. Practical measurements agree well with predicted values, and for large numbers of expendable gauges, considerable time saving with little loss of accuracy can be obtained by use of predicted gauge factors.
