An unusual unidentified strain of an obligately anaerobic Gram‐negative bacillus is described which may represent a previously undescribed species of Bacteroides . The distinguishing feature of the strain is a pronounced yellow pigmentation which fluoresces bright yellow under long wave U. V. light.
