Summary Two patients are presented in whom ultrasonic cephalometry suggested intrauterine fetal growth retardation. The respective newborn infants were normally grown and had dolichocephaly with a normal head circumference. Dolichocephaly should be considered when cephalometry alone suggests a diagnosis of placental insufficiency.
