SUMMARY The optimal conditions of temperature and light for gametangial induction in Bartramidula bartramioides are 25 ± 2 °C and 3500 to 4000 lx of continuous illumination. Presence of sucrose is essential, 1 % being most favourable. Full strength of nutrient solution (Knop's major plus Nitsch's minor) supports best vegetative growth and maximum gametangial formation.
