SUMMARY Rapid separation and determination of tryptophan, N ‐formylkynurenine, kynurenine, 3‐hydroxykynurenine, 3‐hydroxyanthranilic acid, nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, trigonelline, kynurenic acid and xanthurenic acid from pea seedling using reverse‐phase high‐pressure liquid chromatography is described. Accuracy of the determinations was better than 5 % and less than 50 pmol of each metabolite could be measured reliably.
