Summary The problem of considering segregation ratios for rare conditions is considered. Methods of estimating this segregation ratio are described for the cases of complete ascertainment, and probability of ascertainment proportional to the number of affected; tests for homogeneity of the segregation ratio are also described. Some comments are made on estimation procedures described by previous workers.
