‘(MORE) PROBLEMS WITH POSTMEMORY’: PERVERTIERTE ERINNERUNG IN MONIKA MARONS PAWELS BRIEFE (1999)

  This paper explores what J. J. Long calls the ‘problems of postmemory’ in Monika Maron's novel Pawels Briefe (1999) and offers a more critical reading of the text. Unlike many other scholarly articles on Pawels Briefe , this paper does not just read Maron's novel as a paradigmatic example of contemporary ‘Generationenromane’: rather, it deconstructs Maron's postmemorial undertaking and exposes it as highly problematic. Dieses Paper schließt an J. J. Longs Befund an, der als erster die ‘problems with postmemory’ in Monika Marons Roman Pawels Briefe (1999) konstatierte. Es bietet eine kritische und noch detailliertere Lektüre des Textes. Anders als die meisten existierenden Artikel zu Marons Roman liest diese Arbeit Pawels Briefe nicht nur als paradigmatisches Beispiel für zeitgenössische ‘Generationenromane’: vielmehr wird hier Marons postmemoriales Projekt dekonstruiert und als problematisch lesbar gemacht.
