The socio‐political and economic processes of regionalization are varied. This article attempts at understanding the how and in which directions the Pacific Rim, especially the Asian Pacific Region, has been able to create a dynamic environment that has increased its significance, competitiveness and contribution to the global game of contemporary capitalism. The article proposes a new scheme of analysis that focuses on the financial capital and intellectual capital‐led regional integration processes operating in the information era. It draws on local, historical and geographical time‐space specifications of major stakeholders to support the arguments on how places added value.
