Summary— Bowel‐stapling instruments were used to construct an ileal conduit and ileoileostomy in 94 patients. Operative mortality was 3.2%, and the combined early and late complication rate was 34%. The data compared favourably with data from 199 ileal conduits and ileoileostomies using standard suture techniques. It is concluded that stapling devices provide an effective alternative to standard suture methods.
