Given the diverse roles the residential facilities for elderly play in long term care service delivery in different countries, the objective of this paper was to compare the long term care policies and the residents’ profile of residential facilities in four countries or region including Finland, Sweden, Israel, and Hong Kong by using a standardized assessment tool which provides a unique opportunity arouses the international interest on comparing clinical and functional characteristics of residential facilities residents.
