Congenital urethral diverticulum is a rare malformation. Early recognition and treatment are essential, as the obstructive nature of the diverticulum often results in bilateral progressive hydronephrosis, repeated attacks of urinary tract infections, and finally uraemia. A case is reported which was recognized and treated in infancy. The patient has remained well for the past nine years.
