A long‐term study of 28 patients with Perthes' disease treated at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, is presented. Clinical and radiological evidence of osteoarthritis of the hip zvas evident in 29% of the patients 20 to 40 years after their initial treatment. Some pain in the involved hip was present in 60% of patients
