A method for measurement of rat glomerular fibrinolysis and the results of its application to rat Masugi nephritis are described. The glomerular fibrinolytic activity was measured on isolated glomeruli using a fibrin slide technique. The procedure of this method is simple and the results obtained have a good reproducibility. By applying this method to rat Masugi nephritis, sequential changes in glomerular fibrinolytic activity could be assessed. A decrease in glomerular fibrinoloytic activity that was related to the extent of fibrin deposits in the glomeruli was demonstrated in the autologous phase.
