Further Experiences with Miconazole Nitrate, a Broad‐spectrum Antimycotic with Antibacterial Activity

Summary The clinical efficacy of miconazole nitrate in the treatment of skin, nail and vaginal infections, caused by a broad spectrum of pathogens (dermatophytes, yeasts and S. aureus ) was investigated in sixty patients. Miconazole nitrate was administered topically as a 2% cream (soft). In patients with vaginal candidosis, a vaginal applicator was used. In all patients complete cure was obtained. In patients treated for vaginal candidosis, no side effects were reported and vaginal discharge was minimal during therapy. Zusammenfassung Die klinische Wirksamkeit von Miconazolnitrat in der Behandlung von Haut‐, Nagel‐ und Vaginalinfektionen durch ein breites Spektrum von Erregern (Dermatophyten, Hefen und S. aureus) wurde bei 60 Patienten untersucht. Miconazolnitrat wurde örtlich angewendet als 2%ige Creme (soft). Bei Patientinnen mit vaginaler Candidose wurde ein Vaginalapplikator verwendet. Bei allen Patienten wurde vollständige Heilung erzielt. Bei Patientinnen, die wegen vaginaler Candidose behandelt wurden, waren keine Nebenwirkungen zu verzeichnen, und der vaginale Fluor war minimal während der Behandlung. We wish to thank Miss M.
