Summary Three young pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) from a poultry‐farm were found to be infected by T. mentagrophytes (“granulare” variant), which was isolated from the lesions observed on the neck, around the eyes and near the beek. The clinical aspect suggested a tinea infection. Some data on the respective epidemiology are briefly discussed. This is the first report on the pathogenic occurrence of T. mentagrophytes in the pheasant from Romania.
