This review traces the identification and use of sex pheromone of the horse chestnut leafminer Cameraria ohridella Deschka et Dimić (Lepidoptera, Gracillariidae, Lithocolletinae) to monitor population density and discuss its potential for direct control. Host volatiles endogenously emitted from Aesculus hippocastanum L. leaves are described in terms of their ability to control conspecific females.
