Summary In the present report, the arrangement of the milk‐duct system of one quarter of the bovine udder has been investigated using a corrosion preparation. In general, the observations revealed the following remarkable principles of construction: 1. The milk ducts brached out into parallel plains; 2. The manner of the extension of the milk ducts was similar in the whole system; and 3. Narrow elements alternated with sinus‐like parts. The same patterns occured permanently in all levels of magnification. Thus, it was realized that the principle of the self‐similarity, which puts the chaos of various forms in an order at a higher level.
