Background: Hyperacti vity of N‐methy l‐D‐aspartate (NMD A) receptors may be one of the factors in the maintenance of post‐amputation stump pain. Conclusion: NMDA receptor antagonists may have a potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain, including stump pain.
