SUMMARY Citanest is an excellent agent for epidural anesthesia. 3% Citanest was compared with 2% Xylocaine and 2% Carbocaine. The duration of 3% Citanest was the same as that of 2% Carbocaine, but longer than that of 2% Xylocaine. Minor complications were noted with Citanest as with any other local anesthetic agent. However, no major complications such as general convulsions or cardiovascular collapse occurred in our series.
