[Extract] As the Australian population ages, we are seeing an\udincrease in the number of solar-induced skin lesions being\udremoved in the general practice setting. The presentation of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is particularly common in north Queensland where chronic unprotected exposure to ultraviolet light is a major etiological factor. These lesions have been known to metastasize through the lymphatic network and are particularly risky when the primary lesion is located on the ear, lower lip, or scalp
