Dermoscopy is a noninvasive method of evaluation of the colors and microstructures of the epidermis, dermo-epidermal junction, and papillary dermis not visible to the naked eye. These structures are correlated with histologic features and used to assess whether a lesion is benign or malignant, further indicating whether or not the lesion should be biopsied.
