Abstract Published studies relating to captive Harvest mouse biology are frequently descriptive. The biology of reproduction is the most studied aspect and many details of courtship, gestation, nest building, breeding rate and development of the young are now understood. Other aspects of the biology, including social behaviour, sensory abilities and food eaten are discussed. Data from various sources concerning the daily activity rhythm and the metabolism of Harvest mice are compared.
