A thin‐layer chromatographic method for the determination of the veterinary tranquillizer propiopromazine (Combelen®) in slaughter pigs is described. Propiopromazine residue depletion from the kidney occurs with different rates in sows and in castrated boars. In the liver residues increase over at least 24 h after intramuscular administration, in accordance with the distribution pattern of phenothiazine tranquillizers.
