SUMMARY Three‐dimensional models of ruffling membrane were constructed by assembling enlarged Styrofoam duplicates of serial sections. The serial sections were taken from a cultured monkey kidney (LLCMK 2 ) cell and were cut at right angles to the plane of the substrate. Various features of the models were corroborated by scanning electron microscopy.
