Editors’ Note: Young Author of the Year Award – Elton Prize Nomination

The Editors of the Journal of Animal Ecology are pleased to announce that they have chosen Sylvain Pincebourde as the winner of the Young Investigator Author Award for the Elton Prize for 2007. They chose Sylvain and his paper for the following reasons. (i) Understanding the ecological impacts of climate change is extremely important, but we have a relatively poor understanding about mechanisms in the field. (ii) This paper is based on a really neat study that aims to examine how canopy structure affects the temperatures experienced by leaf-miners in the wild, and provides an interesting insight into how climate change might impact on these insects.
