The mounting of a fossil skeleton is a special and generally rare event for the museum preparator. The fossil must first be found then excavated, transported and carefully prepared, before consideration can be given to mounting it. Whilst the basic techniques of mounting are well known to specialists, the author emphasises innovations in the methods he has used during his 30 years as a preparator.
