The European Commission is carrying out a review of the European Union’s plant health regime. A comprehensive evaluation of the regime was carried out by an external consortium from 2009 to 2010. Based on the evaluation report 1 , a new EU plant health law will be developed. A draft legal text is expected to be proposed by the Commission in 2012. The final text will be adopted in co‐decision between the Council of the European Union and European Parliament.
