EPIPRE is a system of supervised control of diseases and pests in winter wheat. The participating farmers do their own disease and pest monitoring. Their field data are entered into a computer, which produces recommendations for treatments optimizing toward highest financial return of crop protection. Aphids and five fungus diseases are incorporated. In 1980, some 4 96 of Dutch winter wheat acreage was covered. On the average, EPIPRE recommendations saved some Dfl 85 (£15) per hectare.
