Summary Lichen nitidus is usually regarded as an eruption characterized by multiple flesh‐coloured domed papules occurring on the limbs, trunk or genitalia of children or young adults. A case of a distinctive but unusual ‘purpuric’ palmar lichen nitidus is described in a middle‐aged adult. The range of the clinical appearance of palmoplantar lichen nitidus is reviewed.
