Summary A 63‐year‐oid woman developed hypertrichosis lanuginosa 2 years after a sigmoidectomy for carcinoma of the colon. The hair growth was associated with liver metastases and a raised carcinoembryonic antigen level. Ninety‐eight per cent of the lanugo‐type hairs were in anagen.
