Summary Thirty‐two patients were investigated by postal questionnaire in order to study the relationship between psychological stress and exacerbations of psoriasis. Sixteen patients with psoriasis were matched for age, sex and marital status with 16 control patients suffering from small cutaneous neoplasms, viral warts and fungal infections. The evidence did not support a hypothesis that exacerbations of psoriasis follow stress.
