A case is described of a female who presented with angulated ulcers on both ankles, suggesting dermatitis artefacta. The livedo pattern of the ulcers and the presence of thrombosed dermal vessels on histology prompted a search for a cryoprotein, and a monoclonal cryoglobulin was detected.
