ABSTRACT As part of an experimental evaluation of autoradiographs after administration of 3 H‐thymidine to rats, we estimated the background distribution of silver grains. the mean level was within normally accepted limits. the distribution of non‐isotope induced grains was such that the validity of all labeling studies which do not evaluate background must be subject to question.
