SUMMARY Studies of the sweating mechanism in juvenile plantar dermatosis have demonstrated features of miliaria, including inhibition of sweating and occlusion of the sweat coil in the horny layer of the epidermis. These are considered to be a sequel to changes in the composition of children's shoes and hose. Possible remedies are suggested.
