. Measurements taken from a series of photographs of otoliths of 37 eels caught in a medium‐sized (3219 ha) eutrophic lake in northern Poland were used to prepare a growth curve based on back‐calculated measurements. Values of L ∞ = 1086 mm; K = 0.048 and mean annual increment = 40.7 mm were determined. A comparison was made of eel growth within its whole range of occurrence.
