Summary The reproductive tracts of three species of Ethiopian hyaenids are discussed. These species are Crocuta crocuta, Hyaena hyaena and Proteles cristatus , this being the first detailed description of the two latter species. The greatest anatomical variations are found between the females of Crocuta crocuta and Hyaena hyaena , while striking similarities are present among the males of Crocuta crocuta, Hyaena hyaena , and Proteles cristatus.
