Crystallographic relations between the two solid solutions forming the eutectic of the system NiO‐CaO were studied by X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The ionic arrangement at the phase interface can be described by alternate (111) planes of metal and close‐packed oxygen ions .
