The numbers of eggs laid by an age group of fishes is underestimated by a simple multiplication of fecundity at the mean length by the numbers of females when the conventional logarithmic relationship between fish length and egg numbers is employed. This paper sets out the conditions under which the error becomes significant and derives a method of calculating the correct integral.
