Errors in meiotic chromosome segregation are a leading cause of human aneuploidy. To explain the origin of aneuploidies we need to identify and understand the mechanisms that direct the proper segregation of homologous chromosomes. The four minireviews in this series provide a view on the function and regulation of systems that are in place to promote proper meiotic chromosome segregation.
