1.1 Chemical characteristics of W and U In the periodic table of elements of Mendeleev, tungsten and uranium both belong to VIB, because they have many similar chemical properties, i. e.The highest valence is positive hexavalent, they both can form some similar compounds etc. But in periodic table of elements today, they both neither belong to the same period, nor belong to the same group, because they both have many more different chemical properties.
