. The cell volume of two strains of the halophilic alga Dunaliella parva was measured by two direct methods and by electrical sizing. The results from the direct methods agreed with each other and were consistently larger than those obtained from electrical sizing. Statistical analysis showed that the cell volume populations obtained by electrical size of D. Parva cells is due to the cell membrane having an unusually low electrical resistance relative to other cell membranes.
