A method for estimating single‐crystal elastic constants given the elastic constants and texture of a polycrystal is outlined for hexagonal crystal symmetry. The method is based on the Voigt and Reuss polycrystal‐average formulations. Sample calculations are detailed for titanium diboride and wire‐drawn and rolled copper. The influences of possible sources of error on the estimation scheme are examined.
