An alternative to the normal method of orienting crystals using 2‐dimensional grids is provided by the use of the 3‐dimensional globe and cap. Trial operations are then quickly made by movement of the cap over the globe rather than by calculation and operation on paper. A goniometer convenient for this method is also described.
