Search for Dietary Anti‐inflammatory Compound to Improve Nutritional and Immune Response using Irradiation‐induced Inflammatory Rat Model

Most cancer patients are treated with surgery, chemotherapy or radiation as anticancer therapies. Especially in the case of radiation, it produces adverse effects such as weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, normal cell damage and malabsorption. Our previous studies revealed that radiation treatment had decreased serum protein levels, and increased lipid levels. The major goal of our study was to determine the effectiveness of dietary anti‐inflammatory compounds which were minimizing the adverse effects of radiation. The researching materials were Elm bark(Ulmus davidiana var. japonica) and AG(Agaricus blazei murill) as food source or dietary supplements, and HBT3(Haedokbangamtang3) which is a kind of herbal medicine mixture composed of thirteen different herb as herbal medicine. As compounds were investigated on luteolin, quercetin, hesperidin, resveratrol and DHA. The effectiveness was investigated on immune reaction through splenocyte proliferation, proinflammatory cytokine level, and PFC, and nutritional assessment by blood levels in the irradiation‐induced inflammatory rat model.
