A short time ago, transition metal sulphides like CdS has been arduously studied because it has unique catalytic functions. This disclosed that CdS nanocrystals are good photocatalysts because it can quickly generate electron-hole pairs by photo-excitation. In the present work, CdS is prepared by hydrothermal process. Prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffractions (XRD), SEM, Optical study, and for evaluation of photophysical properties, UV/VIS spectra were recorded. By UV irradiation and photocatalytic decay of dyes, the photoactivity of synthesised CdS was accessed. The CdS shows higher catalytic activity.
