On the basis of the study of fault characteristics, this research study builds a ring DC system model based on three‐terminal VSC and explores the influence of the change of line parameters on the fault characteristics. Based on this, the current‐limiting method of the parallel capacitor is proposed, and the feasibility is verified by simulation. The results show that the device can effectively reduce the peak value of the fault current and make the arrival time of the current peak prolong and reduce the difficulty of protection.
