Summary We report the case of a patient suffering from vitiligo and discoid lupus erythematosus. The nails of the left hand were involved with subungual hyperkeratosis. He was treated by local and systemic corticosteroid and chloroquine but hyperkeratotic lesions progressed on the affected sites and were found to be caused by Trichophyton violaceum .
