A brief description of the logistic growth curve and its derivative is given. It is shown how to incorporate a temperature‐dependent function into this curve without changing the essential mathematical properties. This is accomplished by changing the exponential parameter in the logistic formulation from a constant value to a temperature‐dependent variable. This growth formulation is used to model mackerel ( Scomber scombrus ) larval growth in a Bio‐Physical Transport Model developed within the EU SEAMAR (Shelf‐Edge Advection, Mortality and Recruitment) project.
