Summary The administration of antilymphocyte serum at the same time as a purified protein antigen, bovine serum albumin, can result in the suppression of the secondary immune response as well as the primary response. The two factors which have emerged as beirg important for this reduced secondary response are, firstly, the dose of antigen employed and, secondly, the time of commencement of the antiserum in relation to the time of immunisation.
