We report the case of a 29‐yr‐old man with multiple myeloma who presented initially with subcutaneous plasmacytomas. These are the atypical features of his clinical course: (a) age of the patient; (b) unusual clinical presentation with subcutaneous masses; (c) lack of ‘typical’ features of multiple myeloma (renal failure, hypercalcaemia, and bone pain); and (d) disease progression as extramedullary recurrences.
